Research Project/Workshop Presentation
Workshop about student leadership, presented at the Educational Theatre Association's National Conference in September 2016. The workshop was based on interviews and rehearsal/performance observations conducted in Ireland and the UK -- studying leadership training programs and ensembles started by young artists (under age 30).
Workshop Description: There are few experiences more rewarding than empowering students to step up and lead in your theatre department; however, when it comes to selecting, training, and supervising them, the struggle can definitely be real. In this session, we’ll discuss some of the common challenges that come along with authentic student leadership experiences and create a plan that works with your current program curriculum to help your students become seasoned directors and producers before high school graduation.
